Shane Lowry has sent his congratulations to Padraig Harrington on hitting an impressive career milestone this week.
Harrington made his 500th DP World Tour start at the 2026 Qatar Masters, and Lowry has congratulated his fellow Irishman on the achievement.
Irish golfer Shane Lowry has congratulated Padraig Harrington on making his 500th DP World Tour start at the 2026 Qatar Masters in Doha this week.
The Dubliner began his Qatar Masters campaign on Thursday with an opening round of -1 par, whilst also hitting the career milestone and joining the DP World Tour 500 club in the process.
Harrington became just the 47th golfer in history to achieve the feat, showing just how rare it is to make 500 starts on the European Tour. This exemplifies Harrington’s consistency and undoubted longevity in golf, and is a testament to his professional nature as a world-class golfer.
During these 500 starts on the DP World Tour, Harrington has won a total of 15 events. Although this mightn’t sound like a lot, three of them were majors and of course two of those majors came back-to-back at The Open.

Congratulations has flooded in for Harrington from various people in the world of golf, including fellow Irishman and fellow Open Championship winner Lowry.
The Mullingar-born golfer, who was last in action on the DP World Tour a fortnight ago at the Dubai Desert Classic, was quick to congratulate his fellow countryman on hitting this impressive career milestone.
“Congratulations on your 500th appearance on the @dpworldtour this week Paddy ☘️ @padraigharrington,” wrote Lowry on Instagram.
Lowry’s tribute to Harrington just goes to show the respect there is for the 54-year-old and just how big an achievement it is to make 500 career starts over a 30-year career on the European Tour.
Harrington shot a -1 par opening round at the Qatar Masters on Thursday to commemorate his 500th start on the DP World Tour. Not bad shooting for one of the veterans of professional golf nowadays!

Shane Lowry’s last appearance was at the Dubai Desert Classic two weeks ago, where he finished in a tie for 26th on a score of -3 par. The week prior, the Offaly man finished third at the Dubai Invitational in what was an impressive display.
After a two week break from the golf course, Lowry is set to return next week as he makes his first PGA Tour start of the 2026 campaign.
Lowry, who landed two major sponsorship deals at the beginning of the year, has confirmed he will tee it up at the 2026 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on Thursday, February 12.
The 38-year-old is one of the 80 professionals who will tee it up at Pebble Beach alongside 80 amateurs, looking to get his hands on some of the $20million prize pot come Sunday.

Pebble Beach Pro-Am is played across two golf courses over the four days of action, with both Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill Golf Course being used over the course of the week.
Rory McIlroy is actually the defending champion of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and Lowry was ironically the player the career Grand Slam winner pipped to the post having finished two strokes behind in second place.
Lowry revealed the true meaning of his catchphrase ahead of the 2026 golf season, and will be hoping to go one better next week at Pebble Beach by picking up his first PGA Tour win since his major triumph at Royal Portrush at The Open back in 2019.
He has won once since on the DP World Tour and also alongside McIlroy in the pairs at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, but will be hoping for more solo success this season in both America and Europe.
