Padraig Harrington has begun his 500th DP World Tour start with an opening round of -1 par at the 2026 Qatar Masters.
The three-time major champion is six shots off leader Patrick Reed after his first 18-holes in Doha.

Three-time major champion Padraig Harrington has made a steady start at the 2026 Qatar Masters with an under-par opening round at Doha Golf Club.
The Irishman posted a steady Thursday score at the Bahrain Championship last week with a -1 par round of 71, and has replicated the exact same score in his opening round in Qatar once again this week.
Harrington went on to miss the halfway cut in Bahrain last week, but will be hoping to put that right this week by following his -1 par opening round with another steady showing on Friday in his second round.
The former back-to-back Open Championship winner didn’t make too many mistakes in his opening 18 holes in Doha, carding two birdies, 15 pars and just one bogey in his opening round.

Harrington got himself to -2 par after back-to-back birdies at the ninth and 10th holes, but made an error at the par-4 15th to drop back to -1 par. He would par his last three holes meaning an opening round of 71.
The 54-year-old’s two birdies came at the back-to-back par-5s, with the Irishman making light work of them and taking full advantage on very scorable holes.
His opening round of 71 leaves Harrington six shots off the pace after 18-holes. Patrick Reed, Daniel Hillier and Gregorio De Leo all sit on -7 par after their opening round, with several players also sitting at -6 and -5 par respectively.
Although Harrington is six shots back after just one round, a round in the 60s on Friday would certainly see him make the cut and be in with a chance over the weekend.

Padraig Harrington Makes 500th DP World Tour Start
What makes Padraig Harrington’s steady start of -1 par at the Qatar Masters even more impressive is that it came in his opening 18-holes whilst hitting a monumental career milestone in the process.
Harrington made his 500th DP World Tour start on Thursday after teeing off alongside Matt Wallace and Andy Sullivan in Doha, and didn’t let himself down with a steady round of golf with very minimal mistakes.
The three-time major champion became just the 47th golfer in history to join the DP World Tour 500 club, shooting an under-par round in the process.

Congratulations for Harrington has poured in from numerous people in the golfing world, including fellow Irishman Shane Lowry.
Lowry, who too has won the Open Championship, like Harrington did back-to-back in 2007 and 2008, congratulated the Dubliner on hitting the career milestone of 500 starts on the European Tour.
Appearing in 500 different tournaments all around the world on the European Tour is quite the achievement from Harrington.
Not only does it exemplify his willingness to win and compete at the highest level, but highlights his incredible consistency and undoubted longevity as a professional golfer.
