William O’Connor Ranked 15th In Latest World Darts Power Rankings According To FDI

William O’Connor is ranked the 15th best player in world darts in the latest FDI darts power rankings.

‘The Magpie’ is ranked ahead of the likes of Rob Cross, Stephen Bunting and Jonny Clayton on current form.

William O’Connor Ranked #15 In World Darts Power Rankings

Irish darting star William O’Connor begins 2026 as the 15th best darts player in the world. That’s according to the latest FDI Rankings, who have ‘The Magpie’ ranked at #15 in their darts power rankings.

O’Connor was the only Irish player not to fall down the Order of Merit following the World Darts Championship at Ally Pally over Christmas and the New Year, and has since risen up the darts power rankings.

Despite still being ranked at no.42 in the official PDC Order of Merit, the latest power rankings generated by Darts Orakel and the FDI Rankings show that the Limerick man is actually a top 16 player.

O’Connor is the highest ranked Irish player in the darts power rankings, and is also ranked ahead of players like Rob Cross, Stephen Bunting and Jonny Clayton to name but a few.

This is ironic considering Clayton is officially ranked no.5 in the world, with Bunting ranked at no.7. In fact, of the 41 players ahead of O’Connor in the official world rankings, just 14 of them are above him in the power rankings.

This means the former World Cup of Darts finalist is actually in better form statistically than 27 of the players ranked above him in the official PDC Order of Merit.

Although the official rankings mightn’t show it, the power rankings prove that O’Connor is one of the world’s best players and can produce the game needed to compete with the very best in the world.

This somewhat showed at the World Darts Championship before Christmas, with the Irishman having the highest Round 1 average with 102.36. That was before eventual runner-up Gian van Veen surpassed O’Connor with an average of 108.28 in the second round.

Keane Barry, Shane McGuirk and Stephen Rosney Next Best Irish Players In FDI Rankings

With William O’Connor ranked at no.15 in the latest FDI Rankings early in the New Year, four other Irish darts stars also feature in the darts power rankings of all 128 PDC Tour Card holders following Q-School at the beginning of the year.

This comes after three Irish players earned PDC Tour Cards for the very first time at UK Q-School in Milton Keynes.

Niall Culleton, Shane McGuirk and Stephen Rosney all earned themselves a Tour Card for the next two years, meaning they are now three of the 128 PDC Tour Card Holders in the world of professional darts.

They join O’Connor and Keane Barry, meaning there are now five Irish players who officially hold a PDC Tour Card as of today.

Of these five, O’Connor is ranked highest at no.15 in the latest darts power rankings, with World Cup partner Barry next in the FDI Rankings at no.44.

New Tour card holder McGuirk is just four places behind Barry in 48th, with Rosney next at no.68. Last but by no means least, Culleton is ranked at no.118 in the latest darts power rankings courtesy of Darks Orakel.

Statistically, Ireland have never had as much success on the world stage in darts as they are having right now. Five PDC Tour Card Holders is a record, with plenty more to come from the new PDC representatives.

Although the FDI Rankings don’t mean anything for the PDC Order of Merit and winning ranking events or securing prize money, they are a good guide to tell fans who exactly is in form and who is trending upwards in world darts.
