Sean McComb will miss out on a major fight in his home city of Belfast after Lewis Crocker vs Liam Paro was confirmed for Australia.
Crocker’s first IBF World Welterweight Title defence is heading down under after No Limits Boxing won purse bids, which spells bad news for ‘The Public Nuisance’.
Sean McComb Misses Out On Lewis Crocker vs Liam Paro Undercard Slot
With news that Lewis Crocker’s first world title defence heading for Australia, this could spell bad news for Sean McComb and his chances of fighting on the undercard.
Crocker is set to defend his IBF World Welterweight Title against mandatory challenger Liam Paro, with Paro’s promoters No Limits winning the purse bids over Matchroom Boxing by $27,000.
This means that ‘The Croc’ will head down under for his first 147-pound world title defence, meaning the likes of McComb and several other Irish and Belfast-based fighters could miss out on the chance of competing on the undercard.
McComb eyed a big fight on Crocker’s undercard, provided it was in Belfast. However, with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom losing the purse bids, this means it will be Paro who will have home advantage in his world title challenger back home in Oz.

Matchroom’s $1,125,000 bid was beaten by No Limits’ $1,152,000 bid as purse bids, meaning the IBF champion won’t be afforded the chance to make his first defence at home in Belfast, where he won the title in the first place.
‘The Public Nuisance’ revealed in interview that his team had already been in talks with Matchroom regarding a fight on the undercard, perhaps even the co-main event, if Crocker vs Paro landed in Belfast, but that is no longer the case meaning McComb is set to miss out on a big fight in his home city.
However, it isn’t all bad news for the super-lightweight contender, who is still likely to fight in spring at the latest. After entering the IBF top 15 rankings at 140-pounds, McComb has plenty of options going forward as he moves towards his maiden world title shot.

Sean McComb Set For April Return With Opponent Unconfirmed
Although it looks increasingly unlikely that Sean McComb will feature on the Lewis Crocker vs Liam Paro undercard now the fight is headed for Australia, the Belfast man is still set to return in the spring.
Speaking to ESBR Boxing, ‘The Public Nuisance’ revealed that he will be fighting again in April, regardless of the situation with the Crocker vs Paro card and whether he will be included on the bill:
“I’m hoping to be out in April. There’s talk of two shows in April that I’m talking to my management about getting on one of them. I’m very confident I will.
“I’ve been given a date for April regardless of purse bids [Crocker vs Paro],” McComb concluded.
McComb is eying a world title showdown with Richardson Hitchins at some stage this year. Provided he wins another fight or even two, the 33-year-old will continue to climb the IBF rankings and make himself simply undeniable.
If McComb continues to win and climb the IBF rankings, he could well get into a position to become a mandatory challenger to Hitchins’ throne. If not, then a fight with Dalton Smith for the WBC belt is another attractive option for him.
But first, ‘The Public Nuisance’ must win his next fight, which looks like it will take place in April regardless of what show it’s on or who is in the opposite corner.
