Sean McComb Enters IBF Top 15 Rankings
After his demolition job of Hugo Micallef in Monaco in December, Sean McComb is a new entry into the top 15 of the latest IBF world super-lightweight rankings.
The Belfast man has climbed inside the top 15 with the IBF courtesy of his eighth round stoppage of Micallef on a Matchroom Boxing show in Monte Carlo on December 6.
‘The Public Nuisance’ put on a clinic in his last outing, beating hometown hero Micallef with ease after one of the best performances of his career to date.
McComb is riding the crest of a wave right now, putting together three impressive wins in 2025 after over a year out of the ring following his controversial robbery against Arnold Barboza Jr in New York in April 2024.

Since then, McComb has gone on an impressive run and is closing in on a world title shot. Since signing a promotional deal with Izzy Asif and GBM Sports, the 33-year-old has gone from strength to strength.
GBM Sports teased a huge 2026 for the Belfast man in a recent social media video, and McComb’s latest move in the IBF rankings further amplifies that this year really could be the best of his illustrious career to date.
Prior to his fight with Micallef, McComb was ranked outside of the top 15 with the IBF. He was also unranked with all of the other governing bodies too, but is now being recognised on the world stage by the IBF.
McComb is a new entry at #12 in the IBF rankings at 140-pounds, jumping straight in ahead of fellow Irishman Pierce O’Leary in the process.

Sean McComb Has World Title In Sight With Latest IBF Rankings Move
After his latest move into the top 15 of the IBF junior-welterweight rankings, Sean McComb now firmly has his sights set on a world title.
Whether or not this world title shot comes in 2026 remains to be seen, but ‘The Public Nuisance’ is certainly moving in the right direction when it comes to putting himself in a position to challenge for world honours.
After his Round 8 knockout of Hugo Micallef in Monaco in December, McComb eyes a world title showdown with the reigning IBF king Richardson Hitchins.
The Belfast man jumped on the microphone straight after his win over Micallef, calling Hitchins out for a fight in 2026.

The IBF champion responded, instantly dismissing McComb and shutting down his hopes of challenging for the red and golf 140-pound belt.
However, with his new ranking inside the sanction bodies’ top 15, McComb could put himself in a position where he simply cannot be denied his shot at Hitchins.
Should the 33-year-old win another fight, continue to climb up the rankings and work his way into a final eliminator, he could well become the mandatory challenger to Hitchins’ crown before the end of the year.
It remains to be seen what happens with Sean McCOmb in 2026, and who he will fight as he nears his shot at a maiden world title.
