Troy Parrott scored his 20th goal of the season on Sunday, as AZ Alkmaar were held to a 2-2 draw against Go Ahead Eagles in the Eredivisie.
The Republic of Ireland talisman secured his eighth league goal of the season, in addition to seven goals in UEFA Conference League qualifying and a further five for his country throughout the World Cup qualification campaign.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed a sharp rise in prominence after his hat-trick heroics against Hungary to send Heimir Hallgrimsson’s side to the World Cup playoffs. Crucially, he has continued to build momentum and awareness through his goals and performances at club level for AZ.
Last weekend, Parrott had to suffer the ignominy of a failed ‘Panenka’ penalty attempt, when a goal would have rescued a draw for his team against FC Twente, but he was back on the scoresheet against Go Ahead Eagles.
Troy Parrott notched an equaliser for AZ in the first half, and they went on to take the lead before half-time, but a late second goal saw the visitors take a point back to Deventer.

Troy Parrott’s star continues to rise, with his name being linked to several clubs across Europe, including Leeds United and Stuttgart.
In the last week, the Republic of Ireland striker’s valuation has increased to €22m, and that could grow further if he continues to impress in the Netherlands and particularly, in the World Cup qualifiers.
The Boys in Green are gearing up for the March semi-final date in the Czech Republic, with the winner set to host Denmark or North Macedonia.
Troy Parrot will be front and centre, leading the Irish attack, having earned the position for himself in the November games.
He scored two and three goals against Portugal and Hungary, respectively, to shoot his country into the playoff reckoning.
Now, just two games separate Parrott and Ireland from a dream World Cup ticket to the United States, Mexico, and Canada next summer.
