Waterford FC have added Norwegian winger Jorgen Voilas to their squad ahead of the upcoming 2026 League of Ireland Premier Division season.
The 27-year-old becomes a permanent addition to Jon Daly’s squad, having successfully completed a trial period including bounce games against Bray Wanderers and Cobh Ramblers.
He was also involved in Wednesday’s 3-2 friendly victory over Kerry FC.
Jorgen Voilas has been described as a ‘versatile winger’, with Daly praising the qualities that the player will bring to the RSC.

He has spent most of his career in his native Norway with clubs such as SK Derv, Vard, Notodden, Bryne, and Egersund, as well as a spell in Sweden, where he spent last season at second-tier Umea FC.
Voilas comes to Ireland having made 160 senior professional appearances to date, and he told Waterford’s official website that “it’s a pleasure to be here”.
“This is such an amazing opportunity, and I am looking forward to it, he added.
“Hopefully, with hard work and determination, we as a team will be able to bring a lot of great moments for everybody with a blue heart. Let’s get to work.”
Daly details Norwegian winger’s qualities
Jon Daly detailed why the Norwegian has been added to the Blues’ squad.
“We’re really pleased to get Jorgen into the club, said the boss.
“He’s made a very strong impression during his time training with us. He’s shown qualities that I believe are essential to succeed in the League of Ireland – aggression, an excellent work ethic, playing the game with real intent and a hunger to succeed.
“I’ve no doubt the fans will take to him, because he leaves everything out on the pitch.”
Waterford get their 2026 League of Ireland Premier Division campaign underway with a tough home test against Shelbourne on February 6.
Joey O’Brien’s side are continuing to add to their squad ahead of the new season and they believe they have found a hidden gem in Portuguese attacker Rodrigo Freitas.
He was plucked from Varzim SC in Portugal’s third tier thanks to the Jamestown Analytics system that has made plenty of headlines with the arrivals at Brighton and Hearts.
Freitas made an immediate impact with a goal against Dundalk in a warm-up game on Tuesday, just one day after he was confirmed as a Shels player.
