27 Irish Darts Hopefuls In Action At PDC UK Q-School Looking To Secure A PDC Tour Card

A total of 27 Irish darts players are bidding to secure their PDC Tour card at PDC UK Q-School 2026.

Two players have already reached the Final Stage, with a further 25 players from the Emerald Isle hoping to make it to the PDC.

Multiple Irish Darts Starts Hopeful Of Securing PDC Tour Card At Q-School

A total of 27 darts players from Ireland are bidding to claim one of the 27 PDC Tour cards on offer across both UK and European Q-School from January 9-15 in the Final Stage.

There are 850+ players in action at both European and UK Q-School, with all 27 Irish representatives trying their luck in the PDC UK Q-School section.

The Final Stage is played from January 9-15, with the First Stage currently underway. Of the 27 Irish entrants at PDC UK Q-School, a total of 25 are playing in the First Stage, looking to advance to the Final Stage beginning on Friday, January 9.

The top 16 players from the First Stage will make it to the Final Stage, meaning the lion share of Irish players will unfortunately exit Q-School prior to reaching the Final Stage.

All of these Irish players will be hopeful of replicating the performance of the likes of William O’Connor and Keane Barry, who are the two best darts players from Ireland currently according to the PDC Order of Merit.

O’Connor is an ever-present on the PDC now, and recorded the highest Round 1 average at the 2026 World Darts Championship last month. He faced Michael van Gerwen in Round 2 and lost 3-1, despite the stats saying O’Connor will beat van Gerwen.

That didn’t prove to be the case, but O’Connor remains the standard bearer for Irish darts that all 27 Q-School entrants are hoping to reach.

A few Irish players had strong starts to the First Stage, with four players occupying a place in the top 16 average Day 1. This will change a lot over the course of the week, but is a strong sign for Ireland’s hopes of having more PDC Tour card holders.

Steve Lennon and Dylan Slevin Headline Irish Contingent At PDC UK Q-School

Ronan McDonagh, Stephen Rosney, Sean McKeon and Damien Grimes all enjoyed strong starts to PDC UK Q-School on Day 1, and will be hopeful of advancing to the Final Stage come January 9.

Two of the 27 Irish players competing at Q-School are already automatically entered into the Final Stage. Those players are Steve Lennon and Dylan Slevin.

Slevin is one of three Irish players who fell down the PDC Order of Merit following the World Darts Championship, despite not even throwing a dart at Ally Pally.

The 23-year-old dropped 10 spots from 69th to 79th in the live rankings, whilst Lennon stayed put at no.76. This means that both men will have to earn their PDC Tour cards back at UK Q-School.

Lennon lost 3-1 in Round 1 of the World Darts Championship to Damon Heta, with Slevin failing to qualify for the tournament this time around.

Both Lennon and Slevin go into the Final Stage of UK Q-School hopeful of regaining their PDC Tour card and going from strength to strength in their respective darts career.

The pedigree is there with Lennon, who reached the final of the World Cup of Darts alongside teammate William O’Connor not so long ago. Slevin beat ‘The Magpie’ at the 2025 Worlds, proving that he is a quality player when he turns up.

Both men need to show their consistency if they are to join O’Connor and Keane Barry in earning a full PDC Tour Card following the conclusion of PDC UK Q-School 2026.
