Conor McGregor vs Justin Gaethje could headline UFC White House for the UFC Lightweight Title.
This comes after reports that 155-pound champion Ilia Topuria may be stripped leaving the lightweight belt vacant.
Conor McGregor vs Justin Gaethje Set For UFC White House
Conor McGregor has ramped up training ever since the ground-breaking UFC White House card was first spoken of by US President Donald Trump and formally announced by UFC President Dana White.
The event is set to go down on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington DC on Sunday, June 14, with a whole host of fighters clambering for a place on the card. McGregor is one of those fighters who has revealed his ambitions of headlining the card.
The Irishman is back in the gym at SBG Ireland, training alongside long-term coach and friend John Kavanagh once again. Although his return at the White House is unconfirmed, the 37-year-old seems confident that he’ll be back and is gearing towards his first fight in almost five years this summer.

Various opponents have already been shut down by Dana White, but he is yet to comment on the possibility of McGregor facing UFC Interim Lightweight Title holder Justin Gaethje.
Gaethje beat Paddy Pimblett in the UFC 324 main event to win the interim belt at 155-pounds, and made his feelings known about wanting to fight at the White House next.
With Ilia Topuria still holding the full UFC Lightweight Title and Gaethje now the interim belt holder, that fight looks set to be next. However, with Topuria’s return date unknown, Gaethje may well fight for the full belt. Step forward McGregor.
Gaethje’s manager Ali Abdelaziz previously proposed McGregor vs Gaethje for the UFC White House main event, so is evidently up for the challenge. Time will tell whether or not it gets made, or if it is just pure speculation.

McGregor vs Gaethje Rumoured For UFC Lightweight Title
If Conor McGregor vs Justin Gaethje does go ahead at UFC White House, there will be some sort of belt attached to the fight, that’s for sure.
Whether it be Gaethje’s interim UFC Lightweight Title, the full 155-pound belt or indeed a special White House belt, there will be some form of gold on the line should McGregor vs Gaethje get officially made for UFC White House on June 14.
As the interim champion at lightweight, Gaethje’s next fight should be against the full champion Ilia Topuria. However, with Topuria currently on a sabbatical from the sport with his return date unknown, he may well get stripped of his title.
Should this happen, then Gaethje will be upgraded to the full champion. If that is the case, then a showdown with McGregor could genuinely go down on the South Lawn this summer.

With Gaethje a proud American and McGregor also having a strong relationship with President Trump, the fight is arguably the perfect main event.
Having already shut down any talk of McGregor fighting Michael Chandler at UFC White House, not to mention shutting down McGregor vs Jorge Masvidal rumours too, having ‘Notorious’ in the main event against ‘The Highlight’ would undoubtedly do huge numbers.
Whether or not the fight will even be discussed is another matter. The likelihood of McGregor being able to cut to 155-pounds is unlikely, meaning the proposed fight with Gaethje simply wouldn’t happen.
However, stranger things have happened in MMA and Conor McGregor vs Justin Gaethje may well go ahead at UFC White House on June 14.
