Jorge Masvidal Teases UFC White House Clash With Conor McGregor

Jorge Masvidal has teased some ‘very big news’ with a potential Conor McGregor UFC White House clash on the cards.

Masvidal has remained coy about whether or not he will fight McGregor at the White House, but has revealed he is training for ‘something very big’.

Jorge Masvidal Teases Huge UFC White House Clash With Conor McGregor

Jorge Masvidal has all of a sudden become the front-runner to face Conor McGregor at UFC White House on June 14.

This comes after UFC President Dana White shut down McGregor’s comeback at the White House against Michael Chandler, with other opponents preferred for the Irishman should he return to action this summer on the South Lawn in Washington DC.

With Chandler seemingly out of UFC White House, MMA fans have been speculating who the former two-division UFC champion could face instead. Step forward Masvidal, who has hinted that he will take on ‘Notorious’ at UFC White House instead of Chandler.

Although ‘Gamebred’ didn’t categorically say he was fighting McGregor on June 14, he heavily hinted at it. Not only did Masvidal say he has some ‘very big news’ coming, he also mentioned how he is US President Donald Trump’s favourite fighter.

This has led fans to add two and two together, with McGregor vs Masvidal now heavily rumoured to headline UFC White House.

McGregor insists he will fight anyone at UFC White House, which makes the potential match-up with ‘Street Jesus’ all the more intriguing. Add to that the fact that Masvidal has heavily hinted at a mammoth announcement, which he expects to come in the next week or two.

“I can’t really say too much, but I am training for something big,” revealed Masvidal.

“Something very big. I have some fight news coming soon, and it’s very big news. And I can’t deny or confirm [if it’s McGregor].

“I’m Trump’s favourite fighter, just remember that at all times. I can’t deny or confirm any of that right now, but hopefully soon I can. Maybe in 10 days, something like that.”

What Weight Would McGregor vs Masvidal Be Fought At?

Should Conor McGregor vs Jorge Masvidal get made for UFC White House on June 14, the weight the fight is contested at could be a major talking point.

McGregor has made no secret of his desire to become a three-division UFC champion, revealing his UFC Welterweight Title plan which involves dethroning Khabib Nurmagomedov’s protégé Islam Makhachev.

That being said, McGregor will have to cut a lot of weight to make 170-pounds. His return fight at UFC White House, if indeed he does fight on the bill, could well even be made as a middleweight contest.

A match-up with Masvidal at 185-pounds does make sense, considering ‘Gamebred’ was a career welterweight but hasn’t had to make weight since his last UFC contest April 2023.

Although a welterweight bout between the pair makes far more sense, having it at 185-pounds might be easier for both parties considering they haven’t had to make weight in a combined almost eight years.

Realistically, neither McGregor nor Masvidal are fully fledged middleweights. You could argue that McGregor shouldn’t even fight at welterweight, but he has in the past.

If the UFC White House main event is McGregor vs Masvidal, it should be a welterweight bout. However, don’t be surprised if it is made at middleweight instead.
