Dana White Shuts Down Conor McGregor Return At UFC White House Against Michael Chandler

Dana White has shut down any talk of Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler happening at UFC White House.

The UFC President isn’t interested in staging McGregor vs Chandler at the White House this summer, and remains unsure on McGregor’s return.

Dana White Shuts Down Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler At UFC White House

UFC President Dana White has totally shut down any talk of Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler headlining UFC White House on June 14 on the South Lawn.

White insists that McGregor vs Chandler simply will not happen with the fight years past its sell-by date. This has come as a huge shock to MMA fans, who felt the fight was nailed on for UFC White House.

When asked for his thoughts of the potential McGregor vs Chandler match-up, the UFC President totally ceased any chance of the fight happening at UFC White House on June 14:

“No. I mean, that [McGregor vs Chandler] was a couple of years ago,” White concluded.

Whether or not the UFC President is saying this to distract MMA fans from the card and the potential of McGregor returning or not remains to be seen.

He made it abundantly clear that he has absolutely no desire to entertain Mcgregor vs Chandler for UFC White House whatsoever.

This goes totally against what McGregor, Chandler and several respected figures in MMA have been saying of late.

McGregor has ramped up training ahead of his impending return, which he seems adamant will be at UFC White House, but his return to the gym could be all for nothing if what White is saying is indeed the truth.

Chandler revealed early in the New Year that the odds of him and the former two-division simultaneous champion sharing the octagon were ‘higher than they ever have been’, but that now seems untrue also.

McGregor Could Return, But Won’t Fight Chandler At UFC White House

Although UFC President Dana White completely shut down the idea of staging Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler at UFC White House, he didn’t entirely abandon the idea of ‘Notorious’ making his octagon return at some stage this year.

McGregor vowed to ‘make UFC great again’ in a recent social media post, adding to the speculation that he would be making his return to the cage this summer in Washington DC on the South Lawn of the White House.

That being said, White didn’t seem too confident that the Irishman was actually serious about getting back in the octagon and making a real return to the UFC.

“We’ll see if Conor [McGregor] is going to come back or not. You know, we’ve been talking about it for a while,” White concluded.

If McGregor does return at UFC White House against someone other than Chandler, it would mark almost exactly five years since his last fight. McGregor lost his trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier after sustaining a broken leg at UFC 264 in July 2021, and hasn’t exactly lived the life of an athlete ever since.

Whilst White isn’t getting his hopes up of McGregor returning to the cage, he hasn’t totally shut down the idea. At the end of the day, the Irishman remains the biggest star in the sport by quite some distance and would bring millions of eyeballs to the UFC no matter who he fought.

Time will tell whether Conor McGregor does indeed return at UFC White House. He may return, but at a different event. Or else he mightn’t come back at all, which wouldn’t come as a huge surprise to the UFC President.
