Down Royal Horse Racing Tips: Best Bets For Tuesday’s Action

See here our best bets for Tuesday’s action at Down Royal headlined by the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Rated Novice Chase.

The ground up north is yielding, yielding to soft on the hurdles track and yielding, good to yielding in places on the chase track.

Plenty of rain is due on Tuesday morning and into the early afternoon so keep a close eye on the forecast.

Down Royal Horse Racing Tips

  • 12:50 – Star Of The Week @ 4/1
  • 1:20 – Jony R @ 10/1 E/W
  • 2:50 – He’s Gorgeous @ 10/3

12:50 – Molson Coors Beverage Company Maiden Hurdle – STAR OF THE WEEK @ 4/1

The opening contest is a competitive maiden hurdle with plenty of chances and Arthur Moore’s STAR OF THE WEEK makes good appeal.

The five-year-old ran a cracker on his first racecourse outing at Limerick on St. Stephen’s Day, not a big price at 15/2 on that occasion and he gave a good account of himself.

He travelled into the race beautifully, challenging at the second last before a poor jump stunted his momentum but the son of Masked Marvel kept on well for third.

The winner, Eric McNamara’s Starting Fifteen is a smart horse in his own right with form behind Grade 1 Tattersalls Ireland Novice Hurdle favourite Talk The Talk.

Star Of The Week is open to huge improvement on his second start and if he can build on that promising debut he has every right to go close.

1:20 – Franciscan Well Rated Novice Hurdle – JONY R @ 10/1 E/W

JONY R has decent course-and-distance form, a ready winner of a maiden hurdle here at the BetVictor Festival of Racing where he sprung a pleasant surprise at 16/1.

The strength of that race can’t be taken literally with Gordon Elliott’s subsequent Grade 3 scorer Kalypso’chance in dire need of the run but he showed enough to suggest there’s more in the locker.

He didn’t get the trip in a decent handicap hurdle over 2m4f at Leopardstown’s Christmas Festival but dropping back should be in his favour and he doesn’t face the toughest of fields today.

With the magical eight runners here he could definitely hit the each-way frame and local trainer Simon Crawford enjoys targeting this venue.

2:50 – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Rated Novice Chase – HE’S GORGEOUS @ 10/3

Fresh off a good run in Grade 1 company at Leopardstown in the Racing Post Novice Chase, a prize like this could be within reach for HE’S GORGEOUS.

The gelding by Kayf Tara has proved a much better chaser than hurdler so far, runner-up on debut in this sphere before scoring on heavy ground at Clonmel at the start of December.

It was no black mark against his name finding the likes of Romeo Coolio and Irish Panther too hot to handle last time out and he’ll enjoy the drop down in class.

Mclaurey might be saved for another day which opens this contest up massively and the ground is most definitely in He’s Gorgeous’ favour.

He has to go close with a repeat of his prior efforts and Danny Mullins back on board can only be a positive.
