Martin O’Neill has doubled down on the reality of Celtic’s transfer business with four days of the window remaining.
The Hoops sit third in the Scottish Premiership table behind both Hearts and Rangers.
That’s because the reigning champions have not correctly recruited new signings in a bid to compete at the top.
Only two signings have arrived on loan in the January window in Julian Araujo and Tomas Cvancara respectively.
Celts have a staggering €80 odd million in the bank and fans have demanded they spend on players.
However, with the Celtic hierarchy warring with punters, they have been accused of dragging their heels.
That has allowed the two clubs above them to stride out in front with big acquisitions of their own.

And interim manager O’Neill has been left addressing transfer worries in the media every week of the month.
O’Neill was recently grilled on deals he wanted done and he put the kibosh on expected numbers.
And now the Irishman seems to have reiterated his caution by explaining why the club have not added yet.
For the 73-year-old veteran who has seen it all before, it has to be about quality over quantity.
So he revealed that Celtic could have had players in the squad already, but they may not have been at the right level.

“I think I could get numbers in,” he told the club’s website.
“But numbers are one thing in trying to get a bit of quality at the same time.
“For us now, we will need to get a few more in.
“Because I think they just bolster the squad for what will be a really tough couple of months ahead.”
Celtic drew 2-2 with Hearts in their most recent outing which lost them ground in the race.
Which positions do Celtic need to strengthen in January?
They have always been looking in the market for a right-sided central defender and that was expedited after Auston Trusty was shown a red card at Tynecastle.
The Hoops appealed his sending off but that was dismissed.
And so, the American’s suspension leaves them further in the lurch with four days of the window to go.
O’Neill also wants a right-sided wide player to provide much needed creativity on the flank.
If another striker also becomes available – expected to be a loan – the Scots would snap that up.
They have been linked with several names this window including Chelsea’s David Datro Fofana.
Bodo/Glimt forward Kasper Hogh has also been named as an option but he would cost upwards of £6million.
