Dele Alli was recently linked with an astonishing move to Bohemians – but the rumour has now been quashed.
It was fun for fans while it lasted but journalist Johnny Ward has shut down the talk.
The former Tottenham and Everton attacking midfielder has been out of action since 2025.
That was when he left Como in Serie A under manager Cesc Fabregas having made just one appearance.
He signed for the club after having also struggled with Besiktas in Turkey on loan from the Toffees.
But things did not go well for him at either club and he has been unattached since.
Clubs have, in recent times, been urged to take a chance on the 29-year-old with the playmaker believed to still have plenty to offer.
All Dele may need is a manager who can put an arm around him.
Dele Alli Bohemians transfer rumour quashed
And that’s potentially where the bizarre Bohs rumour came from.
Alan Reynolds, the gaffer, had been linked with the former England international.
That was before Bohs signed Sadou Diallo from Derry City.
So much speculation had come, in fact, that a photoshopped image of Dele in the airport had done the rounds on social media.
But after all the rumour and innuendo, it appears the link is finally dead in the water.
Irish broadcaster Ward had his say on the talk of Dele at Bohs and put the record straight.
In conversation with the Ireland Radar lads, Ward was asked about the link.
And while he admitted that “stranger things have happened”, he did pour cold water on it eventually.
“Yeah, I think stranger things have happened in the League of Ireland,” Ward began.
“I think with Lys Mousset (former Bournemouth and Sheffield Unite star) signing last season for Bohs… maybe people weren’t that familiar with Lys.
“This is something that gathered legs and it was fun to observe on social media.

“But I kind of get the feeling that Alan Reynolds and Stephen O’Donnell are a bit wary of these mad signings.
“We shall see, but I’m not sure Dele Alli will be coming to League of Ireland any time soon.”
One of the hosts chuckled that Dele would be unable to oust regular attacker Ross Tierney from the squad.
And – while providing legitimate praise for Tierney – Ward reiterated that Alli won’t be signing.
“Ross Tierney is one of those players that I actually love watching,” he added.
“He’s one of those technicians you love seeing in the League of Ireland.
“But I don’t think there’s anything in the Dele Alli stuff.”
