Celtic appeared to take a sly dig at former boss Brendan Rodgers in Martin O’Neill’s farewell tribute video.
The 73-year-old, who replaced Rodgers as interim boss in October, managed Celtic for the final time on Wednesday in their 1-0 victory over Dundee.
Frenchman and former Columbus Crew head coach Wilfried Nancy will now officially take charge after weeks of speculation.
O’Neill, a club legend with Celtic, was given a raucous reception when supporters said their farewells after the full-time whistle.
He guided them to seven victories in eight matches, and they are now on level points with league leaders Hearts with a game in hand.

Celtic’s official club channel also paid tribute to O’Neill with a video posted online, in which they couldn’t resist including a shot of their former manager.
It begins with a montage of footage from O’Neill’s first spell in charge, in which they won three league titles and reached the UEFA Cup final.
Among the transitions to his second spell, it includes a brief clip of Rodgers looking defeated after losing 3-1 to Hearts just before his departure.
Celtic supporters took notice and suggested the board intentionally included the clip following the fallout of his resignation.
One commented: “The board arranged that. Trying to scapegoat Brendan, who I’ve said consistently, did not handle things as well as he might have.”
Another added: “Pathetic from the board. It’s not objectively funny. I wanted Rodgers gone too, but this was so petty.”
Rodgers handed in a shock resignation earlier in the season, which then sparked angry comments from majority shareholder Dermot Desmond.
In a statement, Desmond launched into a scathing attack on Rodgers, including suggesting the club’s recent troubles were down to “one individual’s desire for self-preservation”.

Wilfried Nancy first five games in charge
Nancy will take the reins at Celtic with the club in a strong position.
However, he faces three huge first games in charge, including a title clash with Hearts at Celtic Park on Sunday.
After that is another home contest with Roma in the Europa League. Celtic’s impressive victory against Feyenoord in their last European outing lifted them to 21st and a step closer to a play-off spot for the knockout round.
Celtic then face St Mirren in the League Cup final, and an opportune moment for Nancy to pick up his first piece of silverware in Scotland.
A trip to Dundee United follows before hosting Aberdeen in the final game before Christmas.
Nancy’s first taste of an Old Firm derby comes on January 3, when they welcome Rangers.
