Alan Browne has staked his claim for a Republic of Ireland recall with some fine Middlesbrough form.
The former Preston North End midfielder has enjoyed a fine campaign so far.
Naturally a player for the engine room, Boro boss Kim Hellberg has had to deploy his man at right-back.
And yet it seems to be working well for the experienced professional.
Browne had a brilliant week for his club after a midweek shining show away at Stoke City.
The player was man of the match against the Potters with a goal and an assist from right-back.
It was a massive three points for his club and took them second in the EFL Championship.
Browne found himself at the back post to power home the leveler at the bet365 Stadium in midweek.

And then he turned provider for Tommy Conway with a terrific cross from the flank which was fumbled home.
Again playing on the right-hand side of a four-man defence, Brown started against his old club Preston.
And after he was found by a perfect pick out Matt Targett, the 30-year-old touched the ball down perfectly.
With his left foot he slotted the ball calmly beyond goalkeeper Jack Walton.

It was a fine finish from the versatile player who helped gain three valuable points for his side.
Browne’s form has captured the imagination of Boro fans but Irish punters have also kept a close eye.
He may not necessarily be playing in his most familiar role, but that’s what might help him.
Certainly where Ireland gaffer Heimir Hallgrimsson is concerned.
Albeit midfielder Josh Cullen is ruled out injured, too.
Seamus Coleman continues to work his way back from a hamstring injury ahead of the Czechia tie in March.

The World Cup qualifier is such a massive fixture for the country and they’ll need their form players.
That’s where Browne, at the minute, would come in.
At right-back he is playing seriously well and he should come into the manager’s thoughts for a call up.
Browne has 37 caps for the A team throughout his career and he’s scored five goals.
But his most recent outing for his country came in a defeat to Greece back in September 2024.
It’s possible he could receive a recall to the squad if he continues his excellent run.
Hallgrimsson will need a deep squad to choose from for the semi-final playoff.
If Ireland can get past Czechia in Prague in two months’ time they’ll have either Denmark or North Macedonia to then worry about.
