Ian Machado Garry has taken a cheap shot at UFC heavyweight Tai Tuivasa in a since deleted social media post.
‘The Future’ ridiculed Tuivasa for claiming an unwanted UFC record, but has since taken back his comments.
Ian Garry Takes Cheap Shot At UFC Heavyweight Tai Tuivasa
Ian Machado Garry has taken a cheap shot at UFC heavyweight after the Australian fighter claimed an unwanted record at UFC 325.
Some UFC higher-ups labelled Garry as ‘boring’ according to Ali Abdelaziz, but the Irishman is closing in on a shot at the UFC Welterweight Title after winning several big fights and losing just once to Shavkat Rakhmonov.
The same can’t be said for Tuivasa, who hasn’t registered a win in the UFC since February 2022. It’s been almost four years to the day since the Aussie last won inside the octagon, having lost six fights on the spin in the UFC heavyweight division.
Tuivasa losses have come to Ciryl Gane, Sergei Pavlovich, Alexander Volkov, Marcin Tybura, Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Tallison Teixeira in consecutive defeats.

These six losses in a row for the former top heavyweight contender mean he has now set an unwanted record for the most consecutive losses in UFC heavyweight history.
As if Tuivasa wasn’t hurting enough at claiming this record, ‘The Future’ felt it necessary to chip in with a comment in a since deleted post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
Garry retweeted the post by MMA Junkie, captioning it: “What a record to break”.
Although there is no personal relationship or rivalry between Tuivasa and Garry, this post by the #3 ranked UFC welterweight contender certainly won’t have impressed ‘Bam Bam’.

Ian Garry Deletes Social Media Post After Receiving Hate From Fans
After ridiculing UFC heavyweight Tai Tuivasa for his new record, Ian Machado Garry has since deleted his post where he took a cheap shot at the 14-9 fighter.
The Portmarnock man received a huge amount of comments under his post with fans not impressed by his stance on Tuivasa’s record. Garry deleted the post after receiving a lot of hate on social media, but is yet to formally apologise to the Australian MMA fighter.
Although the intent of Garry’s comment won’t have been malicious, UFC fans evidently didn’t take too kindly to it. After being frozen out of the UFC Welterweight Title picture, this could be Garry’s own way of venting his frustration.
‘The Future’ last fought in November where he beat former champion Belal Muhammad via decision, and looks set to challenge Islam Makhachev this year for the 170-pound belt, perhaps even next.

However, the Irishman may have to win one more fight before being granted a shot at the belt. With Jack Della Maddalena likely to face someone further down the rankings and Shavkat Rakhmonov injured again, Garry is technically next in line for a shot.
That being said, the likes of Michael Morales, Kamaru Usman and Carlos Prates are also in contention for a shot at Makhachev. Rumours of Makhachev vs Usman are rife, so Garry may have to fight someone like Morales first in a final eliminator for the welterweight crown.
Former fighter Ben Asken believes Garry has ‘earned’ his shot at Makhachev and the UFC Welterweight Title, but whether or not he is granted his opportunity by UFC President Dana White next or not remains to be seen.
