Conor McGregor has revealed that he will begin negotiations with the UFC over a new contract in February.
McGregor’s current contract is based on pay-per-view sales, meaning he will have to re-negotiate given the new Paramount+ non-PPV model is in place.
Conor McGregor has revealed that he is set to enter new contract negotiations with Dana White and the UFC.
This comes due to his current contract being ‘essentially void right now’ after the UFC’s switch from the pay-per-view model to Paramount+ with no PPV.
McGregor’s existing UFC contract is totally based on pay-per-view sales, meaning he will have to sit down with White, Hunter Campbell and other UFC higher-ups to negotiate his new contract.
The Irishman looks set to face Jorge Masvidal on June 14 upon his return, after Masvidal teased a UFC White House clash with the former two-division simultaneous UFC king.

It remains to be seen whether or not McGregor does indeed return this summer at UFC White House, and if indeed it will be ‘Gamebred’ on the opposite side of the cage from him.
Prior to his return being officially confirmed, ‘Notorious’ will have to figure out his new contract with the UFC. This mightn’t be a straight-forward process given his five-year absence from the octagon and how much the sport of MMA and UFC as a business has changed since his last bout.
New contract negotiations are expected to begin in February, which is also around the time when fans are expecting an official announcement on the UFC White House card and who will be competing on the ground-breaking, historic night of MMA in Washington DC.

Conor McGregor will fight anyone at UFC White House. The Irishman is back in training and is fully focused on his octagon return this summer, which seems highly likely to be on the South Lawn on June 14.
That being said, McGregor must re-negotiate his contract with Hunter Campbell, Dana White and the UFC first. The reason for this is due to the fact his existing contract is ‘essentially void’.
McGregor’s current UFC contract is based on pay-per-view sales. However, the UFC changed from their PPV model to a non-PPV model in January 2026, meaning there are no more pay-per-view events.
This comes after the UFC struck a new broadcast deal with streaming giant Paramount+, who will air all UFC events at no additional cost to their subscription.

Although this is great news for UFC fans who no longer need to fork out additional funds to watch numbered cards, it also means that the Irishman will have to strike a new deal with the UFC before he can fight again.
Speaking on a Roblox stream, McGregor revealed the current state of his contract and how the future will pan out:
“They’ve got a new deal with Paramount… and my contract essentially is void right now because there’s no more PPV whereas my contract was based on PPV sales,” McGregor revealed.
“I’m the highest generating PPV fighter of all time. The PPV system is done. I’m due a new contract. So we’re going into negotiations in February and I’m very interested to see how it goes.”
Before we see Conor McGregor back inside the UFC octagon, he must first negotiate a new contract that isn’t pay-per-view based. Fans will know far more next month, with negotiations beginning in February.
