Brandon Adams vs Caoimhin Agyarko Purse Bids Ordered For January 6 IBF Final Eliminator

Purse bids have been ordered for January 6 for the Brandon Adams vs Caoimhin Agyarko IBF World Super-Welterweight Title final eliminator.

The purse bids will determine promotional rights for the match up and where the 154-pound bout will take place.

IBF Order Brandon Adams vs Caoimhin Agyarko Purse Bids

The International Boxing Federation (IBF) have officially ordered purse bids for the Brandon Adams vs Caoimhin Agyarko IBF World Super-Welterweight Title final eliminator.

Adams vs Agyarko purse bids were previously ordered for the end of December, but have since been extended to Tuesday, January 6.

The Adams vs Agyarko purse bids are expected to be conducted via video conference, with any promoters interested in putting the fight on expected to be in attendance.

At the conclusion of the purse bids, the highest bidding promoter will gain access to the IBF light-middleweight title eliminator to determine the next mandatory challenger to current belt holder Bakhram Murtazaliev.

The fight between Adams and Agyarko was ordered back in November, shortly after the American bust into the IBF top 15 rankings where he is now positioned at #5.

For ‘Black Thunder’, the Irishman is currently ranked #7 with the IBF and could well have his maiden shot at world honours by the end of the year if he manages to defeat Adams in their IBF final eliminator in a few months time.

The Belfast man has achieved his ranking and risen up the ranks the hard way, fighting as the B-side on multiple occasions in the past 12-18 months with no promotional backing.

Agyarko featured on the Lewis Crocker vs Paddy Donovan 2 card at Windsor Park back in September, and could well land this IBF final eliminator on Crocker’s first world title defence undercard this spring.

Per the IBF rules for purse bids, both fighters are required to commit to the process and cannot enter another interim fight. Failure to honour these rules will result in a six-month ban from IBF-branded fights and a demotion outside of the top 10 rankings.

Adams vs Agyarko Winner Set For Bakhram Murtazaliev Showdown

With Brandon Adams vs Caoimhin Agyarko purse bids set for January 6, the fight will likely take place in March or April time. Depending on which promoter wins the purse bids will determine where the fight takes place too.

The current IBF champion at 154-pounds is of course the undefeated Bakhram Murtazaliev. He puts his belt on the line on January 31 against Britain’s Josh Kelly, and goes into the bout as a sizable favourite.

Should Murtazaliev win, then the Adams vs Agyarko winner will be installed as the mandatory challenger and will get their shot at the champion next.

The motivation of a world title fight next is huge for both Agyarko and Adams, unless of course Murtazaliev enters into a unification bout which takes priority over a mandatory fight in both cases.

This wouldn’t be disastrous for either man, particularly ‘Black Thunder’. Agyarko climbed to second in the latest WBA rankings at super-welterweight, meaning he is in a strong position with multiple sanctioning bodies.

The IBF is evidently the route the Belfast man wants to go down, but having another option with the WBA could prove fruitful for the 28-year-old too.

If Kelly upsets the odds and beats Murtazaliev to win the IBF World Super-Welterweight Title on January 31, he will be granted a voluntary defence before being mandated to defend it against the Adams vs Agyarko winner.

Either way, whoever wins between Caoimhin Agyarko and Brandon Adams will be in an incredibly strong position for an IBF world title shot come summer time.
