Aaron McKenna’s team have called for an all-Irish super-fight with fellow undefeated middleweight Callum Walsh.

Team McKenna have called for a clash with Walsh following his unanimous decision victory over Carlos Ocampo in Zuffa Boxing’s debut show.

Aaron McKenna has been out of the ring for almost a year now, despite putting in a career-best performance last time out in convincingly defeating former world champion Liam Smith at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

‘The Silencer’ put on a boxing clinic against ‘Beefy’, winning arguably every round en route to a unanimous decision victory on the historic Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn card in London.

After the biggest win of his career, McKenna rightfully imagined a whole host of doors would open for him, and rightly so. However, that hasn’t been the case with the Irishman forced to spend an extended period on the sidelines instead through no fault of his own.

The 20-0 middleweight contender has even contemplated a super-middleweight move after frustration at a lack of fights at 160-pounds. It looks like it’s going to be at least one full year out of the ring for ‘The Silencer’, which most definitely isn’t an ideal situation for a boxer in their prime years.

McKenna has continued to call out the biggest and best names in the middleweight division, including world champions Janibek Alimkhanuly, Erislandy Lara and Carlos Adames. However, so far he hasn’t been able to tempt anyone into a fight with him.

Now that McKenna is looking to get active again, he has called for fights with all comers, not just world champions. That included fellow undefeated Irishman Callum Walsh, who McKenna and his team have officially called-out.

The Team McKenna social media account called for a fight between the 26-year-old Irishman and Walsh, who recently moved to 16-0 with a unanimous decision victory over former three-time world title challenger Carlos Ocampo on Zuffa Boxing’s debut card in Las Vegas.

McKenna vs Walsh has never really been spoken about before, but is a fight that makes total sense for later this year.

Aaron McKenna climbed two places to no.4 in the latest IBF world rankings, as well as being ranked highly inside the top 10 of all three remaining sanctioning bodies at middleweight.

Despite his strong form and recognition on the world stage, McKenna has been struggling to secure a fight for the best part of a year now. However, the 26-year-old is desperate for that to change.

In a bid to land a mammoth fight and get his career back up and running, ‘The Silencer’ and his team have called for an all-Irish super-fight with fellow unbeaten contender Callum Walsh.

Walsh has predominantly fought his professional career at light-middleweight, but did beat Carlos Ocampo last time out at 160-pounds. It is unknown whether or not Walsh will remain a middleweight, or if indeed he’ll step back down to 154-pounds.

Should he remain a 160-pound fighter, an all-Irish dust-up with fellow unbeaten fighter McKenna is a colossal match-up. The fight would undoubtedly sell out an arena in Ireland, with the 3Arena perhaps the perfect venue for McKenna vs Walsh.

Although McKenna is awaiting fight news and is still holding out for a world title shot at middleweight, an all-Irish super-fight with a fellow unbeaten contender certainly whets the appetite if a world title challenge isn’t on the table.

It seems unlikely that Walsh vs McKenna will happen next, but stranger things have happened in boxing. If it does, it would go down as one of the biggest all-Irish fights in recent memory, especially if it was for a world title.
