Rudy Gobert could be the next French star in the NBA
As the NBA Draft edges ever closer, Chris Cox looks at the international prospects who’ll likely be selected in the first round.
Dario Saric 6’10”, Forward (Croatia)
Dario Saric is a familiar name to NBA scouts. At 6’10”, Saric possesses the intriguing mix of athleticism, length and handle – which may be too tempting for many GMs to pass on.
Saric is still very much a work in progress, particularly at the foul stripe and behind the three-point line.
Rudy Gobert 7’2”, Centre (France)
Rudy Gobert’s vital measurements read like a dream: 7’2” tall with a 7’9” wingspan – that’s massive, even for an NBA player. At the same time, he retains the ability to leap high and run up and down the court all day long.
Like many rim-protecting, rebounding bigs, the French centre has a very limited offensive game – surviving on a diet mainly comprised of put-backs, tip-ins and alley-oops.
strong>Dennis Schröder 6’1”, Point Guard (Germany)
The 2013 Nike Hoops Summit was a springboard for Schröder, who notched up 18/6 against a strong US team.
Built very much in the modern day point-man mould, the German prospect has elite speed and quickness, allowing him to break down defences and dictate the offence from the inside out.
Schröder is strong and long, giving him an incredible defensive upside.
