Chelsea maintained their blistering run of form on Saturday afternoon with a 4-2 win against Stoke City.
Antonio Conte’s side twice took the lead only to be begged back by their hard-working opponents (inclusing a rare goal from Peter Crouch) – midway through the second half, however, they went ahead and stayed ahead courtesy of Willian’s second goal and the icing on the cake from Diego Costa.
With thirteen wins in a row, Chelsea have now matched a record for victories in a single season, first set in Arsenal’s league-winning campaign in 2001/02.
Though Stoke gave them a scare for a large part of the match, Conte’s side held out – they now move to 49 points at the halfway mark of the season, an ominous haul at such an early stage.
Twitter tried its best not to crown Chelsea Premier League champions there and then, but the unanimous verdict was that the Blues will take some stopping this season.

Arsene Wenger called Chelsea the “superfavourites” this week. He is right, but maybe he should also call them the new Invincibles.
