Ireland’s Curtis Campher made cricket history on Thursday by becoming the first professional male cricketer to take five wickets in five balls.
The talented all-rounder achieved the feat for Munster Reds in their Inter-Provincial T20 Trophy win over the North-West Warriors in Dublin.

The Warriors were chasing 189 but collapsed, losing five wickets for just three runs. Thanks to Campher’s sensational spell, they went from 87-5 to 88 all out.
Campher, who is also the Munster Reds captain, claimed his first wicket when he bowled Jared Wilson with the penultimate delivery of the 12th over. He then sent Graham Hume packing when he trapped him LBW to conclude the over.
In the 14th over, his Ireland teammate Andy McBrine was caught at deep mid-wicket. The final two wickets then came when Robbie Millar was caught behind before Josh Wilson was bowled to wrap up the win for the Munster Reds.

After achieving the impressive history-making feat, Campher told Cricket Ireland: “I wasn’t really sure what was happening.
“I just kind of stuck to my guns and kept it real simple and luckily it kind of went off.”
When asked if he would have been able to do six in six if there was another batter to come, Campher said: “No, I don’t think so. It is what it is. Take the rough with the smooth. Just happy to be out there in the sun.”
Campher was playing his second game back after a finger injury, and he went on to say how much he’s enjoying being back in action: “Performances aside, it has been really good just to be around the boys,” he added.
“When you get injured, it’s a bit of a dark place when you get into the gym and stuff like that. So it has been really nice.
“I have been really enjoying myself and putting pressure on myself to do well.”
