Pierce O’Leary barely had the chance to enjoy his title win before being called out by Sean McComb.
The Dublin scrapper claimed the European junior-welterweight title with a unanimous decision win over Liam Dillon on Saturday.
He became just the 16th Irishman to win the EBU title, alongside the likes of Carl Frampton and Barry McGuigan.
It is likely to set him up with bigger fights going forward, with a world title shot the ultimate goal.
However, in order to get there, he may need to take on Northern Irishman McComb.
Taking to social media, McComb wrote: “I’m here for O’Leary’s homecoming! Battle of Ireland north and south!”
McComb, 32, is looking for a new opportunity after his controversial loss against WBO Interim junior welterweight champion Arnold Barboza Jr.
That means it has now been 14 months since his last fight, and McComb is getting impatient.
Speaking to The Ring in March, he said: “Put it this way, we’ve asked most of the 140lbers in the UK. They’ve all said no.
“Dalton Smith, Adam Azim has said no two or three times. We’ve obviously asked for a rematch with Barboza Jr. He said no.
“Just give me a fight. I’ll fight anyone.
“I thought – with a bit of luck – I was getting on the Eubank undercard with Conor Benn. I signed a contract to fight Pierce O’Leary and it fell through the next day.”

It wasn’t O’Leary’s greatest display, with many predicting that he should have stopped Dillon without going the distance.
However, it was a convincing victory nonetheless to secure a 116-112, 115-113, 117-112 points win.
Speaking after the fight, he told Queensbury Promotions: “His team were very, very happy that he survived (without getting stopped). Which is very strange. That is very poor.
“We went out there and did the job. We did what we needed to do. All due credit to him, he’s a very tough guy. I wouldn’t have a bad word to say about him.”
He further added of his victory on Instagram: “Dublin, get ready – the homecoming is on. Buzzing to bring home the European Super-Lightweight title and still holding the WBC International belt.
“Massive thank you to my team – none of this is possible without you. From training camp to fight night, you had me ready for war every step of the way.”
Promoter Frank Warren wrote on Twitter following the victory: “Brilliance from Pierce O’Leary. Your new EBU Super Lightweight champion!”
The victory extended his unbeaten streak to 17-0.
