Michael Conlan’s rumoured fight with Kevin Walsh on St Patrick’s Day weekend looks set to relocate to Belfast.
Conlan vs Walsh was pencilled in for March 14 at Madison Square Garden in New York, but has now been pushed back a week with Belfast the new location.
Mick Conlan St Patrick’s Day Weekend Fight Relocating To Belfast
It looks like there will be a St Patrick’s Day weekend fight after all for Michael Conlan, despite previous reports that Conlan’s Madison Square Garden return was off.
Conlan looked set to return to the scene of his professional boxing debut in New York, but that has now been cancelled. However, it isn’t all bad news for the Irishman who looks set to fight the same opponent, just a week later.
The two-time world title challenger looked primed to face undefeated American featherweight Kevin Walsh on March 14 in the Big Apple, but could now be fighting at home in his home city of Belfast instead.
This comes after reports that Conlan’s scheduled fight with Walsh will still go ahead, only six days later on March 20 in his home city instead.

Although unconfirmed, it looks like the 34-year-old will still have his first fight of the year, swapping New York for Belfast in a late-minute change of plans.
The exact reason for the rescheduled date and venue change is unknown, but the fact Conlan is still fighting in March around St Patrick’s Day is the main thing.
It looks like Conlan vs Walsh could headline at the SSE Arena in what promises to be an entertaining night of Friday night boxing.
Stay tuned for an official announcement on Conlan’s next fight, and if indeed the later reports of the date and venue change are indeed accurate.

Conlan vs Walsh Set For Friday, March 20 In Belfast
With Michael Conlan vs Kevin Walsh looking likely to headline at Belfast’s SSE Arena on Friday, March 21, this means there will be three major boxing shows on the island of Ireland in the space of three weeks.
Firstly, Conlan Sport have their February 27 show at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall, headlined by Conor Quinn vs Jake Dodd.
Then two weeks later, world title action heads to the 3Arena in Dublin as Jazza Dickens defends his WBA World Super-Featherweight Title against Anto Cacace on March 14.
If Conlan’s next fight is indeed set for March 20, this would mean three major boxing events in both Belfast and Dublin in the space of 21 days.

Irish fight fans are passionate and will turn out in their numbers of course for all three shows, showing just how much boxing is booming in the Emerald Isle right now.
Dickens vs Cacace tickets are close to selling out, with the Waterfront Hall also expected to be a sell-out for Quinn vs Dodd at the end of February.
Rest assured the SSE Arena could sell out for Conlan’s Belfast return against Walsh, if indeed it goes ahead and is announced.
A strong undercard will be required if Conlan vs Walsh is to headline at Belfast’s biggest indoor arena. The fight alone doesn’t sell the venue out, but a strong undercard filled with local talent could perhaps pack it out on March 20.
