Conor McGregor social media blackout may hint of UFC comeback

Conor McGregor has raised speculation that a potential comeback to UFC may be the reason for his social media blackout.

The Irishman, who is a prolific poster online, announced he is taking a break from his social media platforms.

Addressing his 46.5million followers on Instagram on Monday, he wrote: “Hey folks online, I’m out of here for a bit, see you again soon! My love, unwavering. Thank you all.”

It comes just days after he addressed fans in a press conference while promoting his bare-knuckle company, BKFC, claiming he misses the fight game.

He said: “To promote on its own, it’s absolutely amazing. I put on a nice suit. I put on a nice watch. It’s what I love to do. But don’t get me wrong, I miss the fight game, and I’m excited about what’s ahead.”

McGregor hasn’t fought since 2021 when he lost his second consecutive bout to Dustin Poirier – breaking his leg in the process.

He was scheduled to return last year but was forced to pull out of a bout with Michael Chandler after he broke his little toe.

However, the blackout may suggest that he is ready to focus on training and making a comeback instead of showing off his lavish lifestyle.

All eyes on ‘the biggest card of all-time’

That’s what UFC president Dana White has promised should an event at the White House go ahead, expected to be in June 2026.

With the backing of President Donald Trump, White wants to make it “the greatest event” with the biggest names on the card to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States.

He said: “It’s gonna be a one-of-one event. There’ll be nothing like it ever again.

“I’m going to make this one of the greatest events of all time. It will be a full card, and it will be the best card we’ve ever done to date.”

Will Conor McGregor make a comeback at the White House?

McGregor has provided plenty of clues to suggest he is eager to fight at The White House, including going on Fox Sports to confirm he has signed a deal to make a return.

He said: “It’s a done deal, signed, delivered.

”End of negotiations. McGregor will compete in the White House for America’s 250th birthday.”

However, White has contradicted that statement by saying nothing has been arranged yet… although he is aware of McGregor’s determination to make a return.

He added: “I made it clear Conor wants to fight on that card, and you can clearly see Conor is very fired up to fight on that card. But nothing is done yet and and no fights are being negotiated with the White House.”

White has revealed he wouldn’t confirm any fights until February next year, so the Notorious may have to wait before his comeback is signed, sealed and delivered.
