After the drama of the French Open, there’s every reason for tennis fans to be excited for Wimbledon.
Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner served up one of the greatest major finals in the sport’s history to ignite a new rivalry.
The Spaniard was two sets down at Roland Garros and, having battled to save three match points, turned the game on its head in stunning fashion.
After five hours and 29 minutes of breathtaking tennis, Alcaraz, who is partying in Ibiza, retained his French Open title and won his fifth major.
In the ladies’ draw, it was American Coco Gauff who toppled world number one Aryna Sabalenka in the final.
And it appeared to produce another rivalry with Sabalenka far from graceful in defeat. In her press conference, she said it was “the worst final she’s ever played” and claimed Gauff won because she played poorly.
With the grass court season upon us, it’s time to turn our attentions to Wimbledon and it’s set up beautifully…
Wimbledon officially gets underway on June 30 and will be played over 14 days until July 13.
The first day will see both the men’s and ladies’ first round singles. The doubles will then start on July 2.
Notable dates include the ladies’ singles semi-finals on July 10, with the final two days later. The men’s singles semi-finals are on July 11 and the final is also two days later.
Unsurprisingly, there’s barely anything to separate Alcaraz and Sinner in the betting market.
At the time of writing, Alcaraz is favourite by the narrowest of margins and can be backed at 7/5 with the best betting sites in Ireland. Sinner, who will be determined to get his revenge, is 6/4.
The pair are ahead of their fellow competitors in the betting, but there is some value elsewhere.
Novak Djokovic can’t be ruled out despite his age. The 38-year-old lost in straight sets to Sinner at the French Open semi-finals but has a much more illustrious history at Wimbledon.
He’s won seven titles on centre court, with his last coming in 2022. He’s the third favourite at 11/2.
Great Britain’s Jack Draper is 9/1 and then sits Alexander Zverev at 25/1 and Alex De Minaur (33/1).
Carlos Alcaraz with an OUTRAGEOUS drop shot against Jannik Sinner at Roland Garros.
The best drop shot in tennis.
The control it took to pull this off…
Just ridiculous.

It looks as though it could be much tighter in the ladies’ section of the draw.
Sabalenka has never reached the final of Wimbledon having been knocked out of the semis on two occasions. However, she’s still the favourite (13/5) to secure her third major title.
Champion in 2022, Elena Rybakina is second favourite at 9/2. She was knocked out of the French Open in the fourth round by Iga Swiatek (8/1).
Coco Gauff, fresh from her success at Roland Garros, is 6/1 to win back-to-back major titles. Mirra Andreeva, 18, may still be developing her game but she’s still 9/1 to win her first major.
British talent Emma Raducanu is 20/1 to become the first British woman to win Wimbledon since Virginia Wade in 1977.
Last year’s winner, Barbora Krejcikova, is an outside shot at 20/1.
It’s very difficult to look past Alcaraz or Sinner. Judging by previous history at Wimbledon, Alcaraz tops the bill as he looks to retain his title for a third consecutive time.
Sinner has never made the final with his best finish coming in the semi-finals against Djokovic in 2023. Last year, he was knocked out in the quarter-finals by Daniel Medvedev.
A closer look at the head-to-head also may suggest Alcaraz can come out on top. Sinner has only lost 10 out of his last 121 matches but half of those defeats have come in his last five meetings with Alcaraz. The Italian has lost just three of 50 previous matches, all of which came against the Spaniard.
