Ireland have been given a much-needed boost ahead by the return of pace bowler Mark Adair ahead of their T20 series with the West Indies.
The series begins next Thursday, and Ireland will be hoping to get back to winning ways when it comes to white-ball cricket. In Adairs absence thanks to injury they played the West Indies in a one-day series which finished with the two countries winning a game each.
Ireland won their first game, but their second game was abandoned thanks to the weather. The weather would prove to be a thorn in Ireland’s side in the third ODI as they lost by 197 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis method.
Mark Adair will boost the Ireland bowling attack
Adair has played 88 T20 internationals for Ireland going into the series. He has a solid return on the number of wickets he has taken since he made his international debut in this form of cricket against Zimbabwe in July 2019.
The talented bowler has taken 127 wickets compared to his 71 ODI wickets and 25 test-match wickets.
The County Down native has caused some of the best batsmen in the world problems. You can expect him to be a menance to the West Indies.
The all-rounder is also dangerous with the bat and has a best score of 72 in the one-day format.
Despite the welcome return of Adair, Ireland will be without a trio of key players who would have caused the West Indies a few problems. Craig Young and Curtis Campher missed the drawn ODI series but are still not fit enough to take part in the upcoming T20 series.
Gareth Delany was injured during a club game earlier this week and he too misses out.

In their absence, there are several players looking to make an impact on the series. Tim Tector is the younger brother of Harry Tector. He comes in looking to increase his international experience after he didn’t get the chance to bat or bowl in Ireland’s rain-affected game against Zimbabwe earlier this year.
Stephen Doheny has played three internationals for his country and is included in the squad. Gavin Hoey is in the squad too; he’s played ODI games for Ireland before and will be hoping to make his international debut in the T20 format in this series.
