Watch: Nehe Milner-Skudder Scores First Try Since Return From Injury

All Blacks and Hurricanes winger Nehe Milner-Skudder crossed for his first try of the pre-season on Friday during the Canes’ 33-27 win over the Crusaders in Waverly.

Milner-Skudder, who was sidelined for almost a year with a dislocated shoulder, made his competitive return to rugby against the Blues a fortnight ago playing 50 minutes before being substituted for All Blacks hopeful Jordie Barrett.

The New Zealand flier once again split time with Barrett on Friday but he was also able to get on the scoresheet for the first time in a Canes’ jersey since Round 15 of the 2015 Super Rugby season.

Last month the 26-year-old signed a three-year extension with NZ Rugby that will keep him on New Zealand shores until at least the end of the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

Commenting on his contract extension, Milner-Skudder said that he was delighted to be re-signing with NZ Rugby but insisted that his sole focus was on regaining his place within the Hurricanes setup first before he even considers a return to the All Blacks.

“It’s been an absolute honour to represent my country and wear the All Blacks jersey and the only way to do that again is to stay in New Zealand,” he told the Hurricanes website last month.

“Hopefully I can play well enough to be considered for selection again, but as always there is some massive competition there, so my whole focus right now is just getting back on the field and trying to put my best foot forward with the Canes.

“Last season wasn’t ideal with my early injury, but if anything it has only made me hungrier to get out there and represent the club.”
