Tottenham Set To Make First Signings Of Window

Tottenham fans must be despairing at new boss Mauricio Pochettino’s lack of activity in the transfer window. With no signings made and just two Swansea City players due to arrive it is difficult to see how Spurs will break into the top four.

However, it is not all doom and gloom in North London as rumours of a move for French rising star Antoine Griezmann will give the fans some encouragement.

Pochettino has high ambitions for the club and stated that his long term ambition is to bring a first title back to White Hart Lane in over fifty years.

“My challenge is to win the Premier League, eventually. This is our goal, to win the title one day.”

Judging by this summer’s activity this goal will be realised later rather than sooner.

Swansea’s Ben Davies is set to become a Tottenham player, with the Welshman due to undergo a medical at White Hart Lane, reports The Independent. Liverpool had also been in the race to sign the left back but he opted for Spurs and the prospect of greater first team opportunities. Brendan Rodgers has subsequently turned his attention to Sevilla man Alberto Moreno.

In further deals involving the two clubs Spurs midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson is expected to complete a move to Swansea City. Sigurdsson has returned from Spurs’ pre-season US tour for a medical at the Liberty Stadium, according to the BBC.

Moving in the opposite direction is Swansea goalkeeper Michel Vorm who will provide cover for French first choice keeper Hugo Lloris at Hart Lane.

The Independent reports that Tottenham have had a £15 million offer for Real Socidead’s Antoine Griezmann turned down.  However it is believed that Mauricio Pochettino may come up with the £25 million to trigger the release clause in the Frenchman’s contract.  Griezmann was part of France’s World Cup squad and would be an excellent addition to Pocjettino’s side.
