Keith Earls took Liam Williams over the horizontal.
In what has been a fantastic first half, both Ireland and Wales have played with the tempo and precision that was missing in both of yesterday’s matches.
Although Ireland have carried well and CJ Stander made a massive impression on his debut, Wales have competed well at the breakdown, with both Sam Warburton and Justin Tipuric beginning to make an impact.
Nevertheless, the one massive talking point from the first half, was Keith Earls’ tackle on Liam Williams. Indeed in each of the replays it appeared that the Irish winger took Williams over the horizontal and released him before the Welsh full back hit the ground.
After viewing replays of the incident, Jerome Garces decided to only give a penalty against Earls, to the dismay of many Welsh fans.

That’s a bad decision not to send Keith earls off ?#IREvWAL

1) Liam Williams needs to start passing
2) Sam Warburton was sent off for less than that Keith Earls tackle in a World Cup
That’ll be all

Keith Earls is lucky to still be on the pitch, red offence as he let Williams go

That’s got to be a yellow card for Keith Earls. That was a tip tackle. It was dangerous!

Luck boy Keith Earls. Probably should have been yellow. Wouldn’t have had the turnover if the tackle wasn’t as hard. #IREvWAL
