Real Madrid Preparing To Sell “Their Best Player”

Atletico Madrid’s manager Diego Simeone hailed Angel Di Maria’s performance in last night’s 1-1 draw in the Spanish Super Cup and claimed that he is Real Madrid’s best player.

Simeone hailed the influence of his Argentine compatriot after the game stating that Di Maria is Madrid’s best player.

“The game changed with Di Maria. It’s logical – he’s the best player they have.’

Simeone was then asked was he better than the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and new signing James Rodriguez.

“He’s the player most likely to create openings in the opposition half.”

Di Maria was also Man of the Match in the Champions League final against Atletico and it seems that Carlo Ancelotti does not agree with Simeone’s opinion, having started the Argentine on the bench.

Di Maria is expected to leave for a transfer fee in the region of £50-55 million and Manchester United seem most likely to stump up the money to acquire the pacey winger. With Manchester United offering a five-year contract worth £200,000 a week it would see the club offer a £100 million package to acquire the high profile signing United fans are craving.

The 26-year-old had been expected to fight for a place with Gareth Bale last season but he began to show his versatility, appearing in a more central role with pace and relentless running being pivotal to Madrid’s success. It is perhaps surprising that Di Maria is now out of favour when just a few months ago he was instrumental in Real’s Champions League final success.

Manchester United have been linked with a move all summer, with speculation intensifying in the last number of weeks after Di Maria’s move to Paris Saint Germain supposedly collapsed.

Di Maria may not have the profile of Bale, Ronaldo or Rodriguez but this may be the reason that the Argentine is being frozen out of the Bernabeu.
