Liverpool Still In Running To Land Falcao

Rumours are aplenty of Radamel Falcao leaving Monaco this summer with Liverpool, and Real Madrid looking to sign the striker, according to the Daily Express. The paper reports that Falcao’s father has stated his son hasn’t ruled out a move away from the Ligue 1 side.

Although Liverpool, according to the Daily Express, had a bid rejected for the striker last week these fresh comments from Falcao’s father may have put the Merseyside club on alert once more with Chelsea and the two Manchester clubs also interested in the Colombian international.

“I can’t rule out that my son might leave.

“But the only thing I can say is that, for now, he has a contract with Monaco.”

Focusing on Liverpool, and Falcao would certainly be a player they could do with coming into a new season where optimism is high and one where fans will still be mourning the loss of their key man, Luis Suarez. A second place finish last season shows a huge amount of progress in a short period of time under Brendan Rodgers and a signing such as Falcao would be somewhat of a replacement for the goalscoring ability they will no doubt miss out on with Suarez now at Barcelona.

Liverpool do have Daniel Sturridge who will surely have another great season even without his partner, Suarez, up front. Rickie Lambert has come in from Southampton but surely even the most ardent of Reds fans would succeed that he’s never going to get anywhere near the levels of performance that the Uruguayan achieved.

Falcao was hampered by injury for the latter stages of the Ligue 1 season in 2013/14 as well as missing out on the Colombian World Cup squad this summer, leaving one wonder what might have been for his international side if he was fit.

Although last season we may have missed out on some of the 28-year-old’s talents through injury it is clear to see from his time with Atletico Madrid that Falcao would still have a lot to offer Liverpool or any of the other teams circling around the player at the moment.
