Tottenham haven’t been the most active of traders in the summer transfer window but manager Mauricio Pochettino is pursuing a number of targets, including a highly rated young English defender.
New Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino hasn’t done much in the transfer window thus far and has been frustrated in his attempts to sign Belgian international Romelu Lukaku. The striker is looking for a move away from Chelsea but has balked at a move to Spurs as they are not in the Champions League.
In defense Pochettino is interested in bringing Dejan Lovren, with whom he worked with at Southampton, to White Hart Lane but the Croatian has indicated a desire for a Liverpool move.
Swansea’s 21-year-old Welsh right full back Ben Davies is another Spurs target but they have yet to come up with a bid deemed suitable by the Welsh outfit.
Jamaal Lascelles, the highly rated 20-year-old Nottingham Forest defender, is also on the Spurs shopping list. The Englishman is valued at £5 million and Spurs are facing competition from QPR for his signature. However, they are offering to loan the player back to Forrest for a year to sweeten the deal.
30-year-old club captain Michael Dawson is set to finally leave White Hart Lane for a fee of around £5m. Hull City had been the front runners to sign him, but West Ham are also in the race.
On a positive note French World Cup goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has committed his future to the club following interest from a number of big European clubs.
They won’t be as active as last year, but expect some high-profile arrivals and departure at Tottenham during the off season.
