According to Chilean newspaper La Tercera, Juventus have told Manchester United that they have until Friday to get any possible Arturo Vidal deal done.
Vidal has been linked with a move to Manchester all summer and would be all-action type of midfielder that United crave.
He is one of the finest midfielders in world football combining technical ability with a high level of work rate. The Chilean international combines vision, creativity and aggression as well as a will to win in midfield.
Vidal confidently told reporters in January:
It’s quite clear for me that I’m the best in my role. Nobody puts in as much defensive work as I do and then scores a lot of goals on top of it as well.
The Juventus midfielder scored an impressive 18 goals from midfield last year while providing five assists and also averaging a tackle every 19 minutes, making a total of 130 tackles last year (the third highest in the league). The midfielder can provide a significant contribution defensively and offensively which is why he is one of the finest midfielders in the game at present.
Talk of a move to Manchester however may prove difficult as Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri expects Vidal to remain with the Serie A champions:
“Vidal will stay here and he’s very happy about this, he told reporters. I spoke with him about his fitness, we’re happy he will stay with us.”
It is clear that Van Gaal is looking to add to his squad with Manchester United’s midfield is in need of a complete revamp. Ander Herrera has already arrived to add more quality in midfield, but the possible arrival of Vidal would be a huge signing and a statement of intent by Louis Van Gaal.
Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba would like to see Vidal stay at the Serie A champions.
“Of course I hope he will stay. He’s injured at the moment and he’s trying to get fit. We want him to stay at Juventus. For the moment he is here so we won’t speak about him leaving.”
The Chile midfielder is currently out sidelined with a knee injury. His national coach Jorge Sampaoli has claimed that the injury is the reason that the transfer has not gone through yet. He was quoted by Chilean newspaper El Mercurio:
“The problem in Vidal’s transfer from Juventus to Manchester United for $80m is the doubt that Van Gaal has with respect to the improvement of Arturo’s knee.”
Vidal has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester all summer and the deal could be coming to a conclusion by the end of the week, where we should know whether he will remain at Juventus or be gracing the Premier League next year.
