AC Milan are reportedly lining up a £24 million move to sign Manchester United misfit Memphis Depay.
The Netherlands international has failed to impress since his move from PSV Eindhoven under Louis van Gaal, and Jose Mourinho has not allowed Depay an opportunity to impress in United colours this season.
According to Caught Offside, former European heavyweights Milan, who have new investment after a Chinese takeover, are prepared to offer Depay an exit route from his living nightmare at Old Trafford.
Caught Offside name Calcio Mercato as their source, a usually reliable outlet on Italian football transfer news.
The report claims that AC Milan will look to loan Depay initially before making the move permanent if all parties involved are pleased to continue with Depay’s proposed move to Italy.
Depay’s current contract runs out in 2019, with the option of another year, but seeing as the Dutchman is obviously not a part of Jose Mourinho’s future plans with the club, it makes sense for him to depart, and if Milan are a viable option he should make the most of the opportunity.
Depay had been linked with Liverpool in the summer, who have since purchased the exceptional Sadio Mane from Southampton for a fee in excess of £30 million.
Should Depay be allowed to leave, Manchester United fans?
