Huge Transfer Boost For Manchester United & Arsenal

Manchester United and Arsenal targets, Sami Khedira and Angel Di Maria, have been linked with moves away all summer and Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that both players have rejected new deals.

In a more definite intent of his desire to depart the Bernabeu, Di Maria has stated that he wants to leave the club. This news is bound to alert Manchester United and Arsenal who are believed to be interested in Sami Khedira.

Ancelotti confirmed that both players have rejected new deals when speaking to reporters in Spain.

“Di Maria has asked to leave and rejected [a contract] offer from club. [But] if he does not find a future solution he stays, no problem.

“Khedira has one more year and has rejected new deal. It is different than Di Maria as he has not asked to leave.”

Khedira has only one year remaining on his contract and could now be available on a cut price and with Arsene Wenger admitting that they may need to strengthen in midfield following an injury to Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta news of Khedira being unsettled at Madrid is sure to alert the Gunners boss.

Wenger spoke on Thursday about the injury to the Spaniard and admitted that he is looking for a defender while failing to rule out a move for a midfielder. There is likely to be more incoming at the Emirates in this transfer window.

“If it’s a long-term injury [for Arteta] that puts us in a position where we have to be creative.

“We are not in an emergency case but we are open to any opportunity to strengthen our defensive department.

Asked about the prospects of signing a defensive midfielder, Wenger added: “We are not against that, no.”

Manchester United secured the signing of Marcos Rojo on Wednesday and if they were to bring in his Argentine compatriot it would be a huge boost to the current United side that looks to be lacking in pace. The speedy Argentine is renowned for his penetrating runs in the final third.

PSG boss Laurent Blanc has admitted it will be difficult for the French club to pursue the Argentine winger.

“With large players like Di Maria, there are a lot of clubs behind him certainly. PSG can not do what he wants in terms of recruitment (because of financial fair play). This is a difficult issue, the president has confirmed to me.”

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone rates Di Maria as Real Madrid’s best player , although this may have been a ploy to undermine their city rivals. The Argentine was man of the match in the Champions League last year and United may have to pay in the region of £50 million to acquire the 26-year-old’s services.

Madrid will be keen to get rid of  Di Maria as they seem keen on a  move for Radamel Falcao and they will need a non EU player to leave in order to free up space for the Colombian.

Ancelotti’s recent admission is a huge boost to Manchester United and Arsenal and the prospect of Angel Di maria and Sami Khedira plying their trade in the Premier League next year is a distinct possibility.
