LA Clippers star Chris Paul is headed to Houston, it has emerged in a sensational turn of events. This follows the news in recent days that Chris Paul and Blake Griffin opted out of their contracts with the Clippers.
CP3 informed the Clippers he was going to join Houston. As a result, he opted back into his contract so that the Clippers could then trade him instead of losing him as a free agent.
After Chris Paul agreed to opt-in on contract, Clippers are trading All-Star guard to the Houston Rockets, league sources tell @TheVertical

As part of the deal, the Clippers will receive Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams, Sam Dekker, and a top-three protected 2018 first-round pick.
Paul will now link up with James Harden at the Rockets, as they bid to get their hands on championship rings together. Following a career year for Harden, the arrival of CP3 should make for an interesting dynamic, with the former asserting himself as one of the league’s top PGs in 2017.
Regardless of whether Harden returns to SG or not, his impending partnership with Paul will undoubtedly create one of the most electric backcourts in the NBA.
While today’s news is certainly a blow to the Clippers, it is not all doom and gloom for the LA franchise.
FYI: Several league execs I spoke to prior to trade speculated a Chris Paul departure would lead to Blake Griffin’s return to #Clippers.
