Although the transfer window opened in optimistic fashion for Arsenal, since the signing of Granit Xhaka, Gunners fans have been disappointed.
First Jamie Vardy turned down a move to the Emirates, then Arsenal seemingly missed out Gonzalo Higuain, and most probably Riyad Mahrez.
To make matters worse, all has gone quiet on the Alexandre Lacazette front, after it appeared a deal was close.
Indeed, Arsene Wenger infuriated some Arsenal fans, when he vowed to continue playing Theo Walcott upfront. The clear suggestion being that Arsenal will not be signing another striker this summer.
Nonetheless, Wenger has rarely been bullish when it comes to making public statements regarding his transfer activity. Instead, Arsenal tend to be one of the more discreet clubs in the market.
As a result, it was with interest that we spotted an article in The Telegraph linking the Gunners with a move for one of two Real Madrid attackers, James Rodriguez and Isco.
Rodriguez has of course been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabéu throughout the summer, with West Ham even associated with the Colombian.
Indeed, over the last few days, it has been widely reported that a Premier League club have offered Real £72 million for the playmaker.
What’s more, last Thursday Marca claimed that either Rodriguez or Isco could be forced out of Real, after Zinedine Zidane personally requested that Asensio be retained following his loan spell with Espanyol.
Whether or not Arsenal would be willing to fork out such a massive transfer fee for Rodriguez is another story, but the arrival of Isco would most certainly be welcomed.
