Chile star Alexis Sanchez is being heavily linked with a move to Arsenal as he continues to excel in the World Cup.
Arsene Wenger has reportedly received a substantial sum of money to spend in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Express.
Sanchez is currently on duty at the World Cup for Chile, a side that have earned plaudits worldwide for their performances and have earned them a place in the last 16.
He also had a successful campaign with Barcelona this season, scoring 21 in goals and assisting 15 in 36 starts for his club side.
One wonders why Barcelona would want to sell the in-form striker to a possible Champions League rival, sparking yet more speculation as to whether Barcelona are looking to add Suarez to their ranks.
Looking at the Arsenal side Sanchez could be of huge benefit to Wenger with his attacking options being heavily dependent on Olivier Giroud last season.
Combining the more physical and imposing nature of Giroud’s play with the speed and trickery of the Chilean could be an inspired move by Wenger as long as he is willing to loosen the purse-strings a little further.
Last season Arsenal were also over reliant on Aaron Ramsey in the early parts of the season and were unlucky to see him miss out for the majority of the second half of the year through injury.
When you look at the amount of assists Sanchez provided last season in conjunction with his goal scoring ability it can be argued that a partnership with Giroud could be just what Arsenal need to make a consistent challenge for the title next season.
Sanchez can add a freshness to the Arsenal attack that in its current form is below par for a team that has aspirations of lifting the Premier League title.
His pace is something that they are certainly missing up front. Arsenal are the one team in the Premier League that could get away with a lack of pace due to their intricate passing game.
However, the addition of Sanchez with Mesut Ozil, Ramsey and Jack Wilshere behind him creating a steady supply from midfield could make Arsenal more of a threat to the top teams than last season.
Wenger finally won a trophy last season in what has been a long wait for Arsenal fans but Sanchez could be exactly what the North Londoners need to progress in the league, with third and fourth place being their staple for several years . The Chilean front man could come to England just at the right time for Arsenal.
