Clonmel featured the Beginners Chase this afternoon and in front of those there for a pre-Christmas flutter, jockey Jack Kennedy gave punters more than they bargained for.
On board the Gordon Elliott-trained Robin Des Mana, Kennedy led the bunch over the fences but came a cropper and almost ended up in the turf amid the hooves of the rest of the field.
Instead of accepting what would certainly have been a nasty fall, Kennedy clung on for all his worth, before eventually remounting and going on to win at odds of 7/2.
Take a look.

Speaking after his victory and reported by RTE, Kennedy sheepishly revealed what happened,
“I just got in underneath and it shot me out of the saddle. It was a little bit embarrassing that I got thrown out of the saddle so I said I better try my best to stay on him. I was turned backwards.
“I don’t know how I stayed on to be honest. He stayed straight so that was a big help. It’s a bit of blur but it worked out well.”
Those who had Robin Des Mana backed for the win will certainly have endured the range of emotions today.
