The Winner Of European Tour Shot Of The Month Was Always Going To Be A No-Brainer

Let’s be honest, was anyone other than Shane Lowry really going to win European Tour Shot Of The Month?

Shane Lowry has enjoyed an incredible few weeks of late, and the plaudits continue to roll in following his incredible victory at the 2015 WGC Bridgestone Invitational.

To put his miracle shot into context, one has to fully understand the pressure the Offaly man was under:

– You’re on the 18th.

– One hole away from winning one of the biggest tournaments in world golf, and the biggest of your career to date.

– You hit a poor tee shot and end up in no-man’s-land.

– 72 holes of golf all come down to this nightmare lie, 127 yards from the hole and behind a tree.

– The world is watching.

– Ah sure, I’ll go for it anyway.

“It was actually a pretty horrific lie.” Lowry told EuropeanTour.com. “It was sitting down in a hole. It was almost like someone had stood on it, but it was where the crowd was walking. And I just said to Dermot, I’ll try and hit sand wedge and just get it down to the front of the green. I pulled it a bit too low and went into the tree.”

“The rest is history.”

Lowry was recently named European Tour Golfer of the Month and one feels that a Major title is edging nearer and nearer for the Irishman.
