Hamza Igamane is set to leave Rangers in the coming days, with Lille resuming negotiations over a transfer for the Morocco international striker.
On Monday afternoon, Foot Mercato reported that LOSC has decided to “relaunch the deal”. While news of Igamane’s expected departure won’t come as a surprise to many Gers supporters, the situation appears to have changed following the lacklustre 1-1 draw with St Mirren on Sunday.
Post-match, the under-pressure Russell Martin told journalists that the 22-year-old refused to play when called upon from the bench, citing a quad strain while warming up.
Martin appeared to be diplomatic about the situation, suggesting that he would take the player’s word at face value, but you have to question the merits of alluding to an unhappy player and a difficult situation for the club, knowing that a sale is more than likely on the cards.
Rangers could now find that Lille’s offer isn’t quite at the £15 million level that Ibrox chiefs are said to be looking for, but it is now abundantly clear that a resolution will have to be found.
Martin told the press conference, “I turned around to him at 60 minutes and Hamza told me he’s injured. I have to trust him, but we’ll see.
“The issue is that the window is still open and there are people with one eye out and one eye in, he continued. We had a bid this week for Hamza that we rejected.
“There are too many people uncertain and we have to make sure we have people that want to be here. I’m calm about it.”
Russell Martin is eager for the transfer window to close next Monday, with further ins and outs to follow. Over the weekend, Rangers latest transfer news saw Jose Cifuentes, Ben Davies, and Ridvan Yilmaz leave the club.

All signs point to the Moroccan leaving the club, with France likely to be his destination.
In recent weeks, the on-off saga has dragged on, with the player’s representatives reportedly having already agreed on personal terms with LOSC.
A settlement could finally be within reach, which would be best for all concerned at this stage, with the news that dialogue was restarted on Monday afternoon between officials in Lille and Glasgow.
“With one week left until the end of the transfer window, Lille has decided to relaunch the deal.
“According to our information (FM), talks have been resumed with Glasgow Rangers in the last few hours.
“While no offer has yet been made, one could come quickly, much to the delight of the player who hopes to play in Ligue 1.”
The respected Belgian football journalist Sacha Tavolieri has also intimated that the striker is “pushing to complete his move”.
