Chelsea-loanee Fantaky Dabo managed to score an own-goal for Vitesse Arnhem that is about as bad as anything you will see this season.
There are few things in the beautiful game that are quite as demoralising as being solely responsible for your team conceding. Scoring an own-goal, especially in a game of importance, can knock you off your stride and in some cases earn you some serious infamy from those lying in wait to pounce on such unfortunate souls online. It’s unfortunate because 95 per cent of the time, such mistakes can be avoided.
This recent own-goal from Dabo, however, was just something special and baffling in equal measures.
Dabo, who plies his trade in the Eredivisie with Vitesse Arnhem, somehow decided that it would be a good idea to pretty much lob his own goalkeeper from an awkward angle about 35-40 yards out and though, yes, he was, of course, trying to manufacture some weird, ill-advised back-pass, the execution – especially when you consider he was under very little pressure at the time – was completely awful.

There are bad own-goals, and then there are absolute shockers like this one right here. Maybe don’t hold your breath on seeing Dabo back wearing the blue of Chelsea anytime soon.
