Watch: Gennady Golovkin Annihilates Vanes Martirosyan In Two Rounds

Gennady Golovkin didn’t take long to dispatch his short-notice opponent Vanes Martirosyan last night, coming home with a second-round KO.

Well, that didn’t take long.

Gennady Golovkin was not expected to have too much difficulty in his pairing with Vanes Martirosyan last night but boy did he make it look easy. After Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez’s high-profile pull-out from his originally scheduled rematch with Golovkin on May 5, the desperation to find the unbeaten Kazakhstani an opponent almost saw Cork’s Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan taking the call but it was the Armenian Martirosyan who was the one unfortunate enough to end up in front of ‘Triple G’ last night.

Two rounds in and Golovkin already had the fight done and dusted. A beautiful combo sent his opponent crashing to the canvas, bringing his record to a stellar 38-0-1 (34 KO’s).

It wasn’t the showdown with Canelo Alvarez that everyone anticipated but with the challenge in front of him that was presented, Triple G did a good job at reminding the world exactly how brutal he can be.
