The UFC light-heavyweight division’s number-2 ranked fighter Volkan Oezdemir has been arrested in Florida on battery charges.

One of the most rapidly-rising forces in the UFC today, Volkan Oezdemir, has been arrested in the state of Florida on battery charges.

Oezdemir, who has fast-tracked his way into the top-5 at 205lbs with some pretty ridiculous knockout wins, looked to be in the pole position to face off against the champion Daniel Cormier for the belt at some point next year. His first-round finishes of the heavily-favoured Jimi Manuwa and Misha Cirkunov, led Oezdemir to adopt the nickname ‘No Time’, a testament to his unprecedented rise into the top-5 ranks and in truth, it’s a perfect tribute to his completely bonkers ascent.

Both of those aforementioned knockout wins lasted just under a minute and now, with the title seemingly within his reach, Volkan has reportedly found himself in a spot of bother with the law that could jeopardize everything.

According to his records, Volkan was arrested on the 18th of November and has been charged with aggravated battery (via MMAJunkie). Not much else is known about his situation right now.

How this will affect his title aspirations remains to be seen but, of course, with the champ Daniel Cormier in waiting, do not be surprised to see a statement from the UFC in the near future.
