Kevin Lee Makes Weight On Second Attempt, Will Fight For Interim Title

Kevin Lee managed to come in at 154.5 lbs on his second attempt at making the championship limit of 155lbs for his UFC 216 main event slot on Saturday.

Despite looking like death while doing it, Lee will be contesting the UFC’s interim lightweight title against Tony Ferguson on Saturday night.

Lee, who reportedly had to cut from over 175lbs, failed at the first attempt to bring his weight down but after being given a second go, managed to come in at 154.5lbs an hour later.

As a result, he will fight on Saturday night as planned and should he win will come away as the new UFC interim lightweight champion.

His opponent managed to make the limit and apart from Lee, the only issue with getting this fight card set in stone came from Nik Lentz, who was forced to pull out of his contest with the former Bellator champion Will Brooks due to medical concerns.

UFC 216 will take place on Saturday night and, Ferguson-Lee aside, is a solid card through-and-through, featuring a mix of big names, hot prospects and highly significant contests from top to bottom.
