And just like that, it’s as if Jon Jones had never existed. Years of hard work scrubbed from the records of the UFC.
The illustrious ‘pound for pound’ ranking chart on the UFC’s website has always been an excellent barometer as to who are the greatest fighters in the world right now. However, after recent events, one name has been completely etched out.
Jon Jones (21-1) has officially been stripped and suspended of his UFC Light-Heavyweight championship after a hit and run incident involving the champion, was making the rounds on social media this weekend.
Too add insult to injury, the UFC star has been dropped from sports giant, Reebok according to ESPN Sports Business reporter, Darren Rovell.
Jon Jones becomes 1st athlete to lose two shoe & apparel deals (Nike and now Reebok) in 8 months.

However, more interestingly is that Jon Jones’ name does not appear to be found in either the Light-Heavyweight nor the ‘pound for pound’ rankings under the rankings section on ufc.com

An official statement from the UFC regarding Jones’ removal from the rankings has not yet been released.
Does this mean that Conor McGregor could overtake Jose Aldo as the number 1 fighter if he beats him this July?
Daniel Cormier, a former opponent of Jon Jones is now set to fight Anthony Johnson for the now vacant Light-Heavyweight Championship in Las Vegas on May 23rd at UFC 187.
