Scotland could be without number eight Ryan Wilson for their crunch 6 Nations encounter with Ireland next month.
The Glasgow Warriors forward has been cited by tournament organisers after an incident involving England counterpart Nathan Hughes during last Saturday’s rousing Calcutta victory at Murrayfield.
The statement confirming that Wilson will face a disciplinary committee makes reference to an alleged eye-gouging incident:
“The alleged offence, contact with the eye area of an opponent (Law 9.12) took place in the 37th minute of the match.
“A disciplinary hearing will be convened before a Six Nations Disciplinary Committee on Wednesday.”

Wilson could face a suspension which, if handed down and even if the guilty verdict , would rule him out of Scotland’s trip to the Aviva Stadium on March 10th. Last weekend’s 25-13 victory over Engladn has reignited their hopes of winning the 6 Nations championship, but will need to beat Ireland in Dublin to maintain that hope.
Wilson as also involved in a pre-match incident in the tunnel involving Owen Farrell, for which 6 Nations Rugby have have already sought explanations from the respective national governing bodies.
