USA star Perry Baker is considered the best player in the sevens game and his absolutely breathtaking solo effort against Fiji over the weekend at the World Sevens Series in Las Vegas underlined the 31-year-old’s unique talent.
Receiving the ball near his own try-line, he steps one defender before beating another one on the outside. Building up a head of steam he then cuts back infield, skinning another defender.
Now into midfield with space opening up before him, he puts his foot on the accelerator, leaving a couple of defenders in his wake, to go in under the posts for an amazing 126m solo effort.

Baker’s effort helped inspire the US Eagles to a 19-7 win over the Fijians in the semi-final before they went on to make history by beating Argentina 28-0 in the final to secure their first ever World Rugby Sevens Series title on home soil, and only their second-ever World Sevens crown.
